I don't like waste, which happily is a good thing for our planet.
I try to combine decoration and sustainability in various ways...
I repurpose old vinyl records, CDs and DVDs as canvases for my resin and painted artworks. Some of these works use CDs that even a charity shop couldn't use and which would otherwise have been thrown away.
I use various items, which would otherwise be discarded, in my art, jewellery and resin ornaments. This includes fabric, necklace chains, chocolate wrappers, sea glass and, as in this pendant, pencil shavings.
Decorating wood is where When I Decorate Things began. I give old wooden items a new lease of life by painting and decorating them. With this piece the customer wanted a sea scene with a boat.
Resin is plastic, right, but I save up all the dried scraps of it from mixing pots and incorporate it into other resin creations, like this mouse.
I put my jewellery into a new cardboard gift box, but outer protective packaging for posting (eg bubble wrap) is pretty much always reused stuff.
Born of necessity but, as I don't drive, to get to events I transport myself and everything for my stall on foot or by public transport. The number of times someone has seen me with my luggage and asked me if I am going somewhere nice. Yes, Croydon :)
